Laser Treatment of Unwanted Leg Veins

What are the benefits?
Our advanced technology minimizes the redness and bruising normally associated with traditional treatments. Best of all, our technology allows us to treat people of any ethnic origin and skin type including tanned skin.
How does it work?
The laser energy is absorbed by the pigment in your blood and collapses the unwanted vein. The laser energy is delivered through a hand-held device with a cooling tip that protects your skin.
When will you see results?
The appearance of leg veins will either dramatically fade or completely disappear during the treatment. Some vessels may show temporary swelling that will subside after a few hours to a few days. The redness of the treated vessels will gradually disappear as the healing process occurs. This may take between two and eight weeks.
How often can you have it done?
Most patients see excellent improvement after just two treatments. Everyone responds differently to treatments, with some needing only one treatment and others requiring a third treatment. You can optimize your results by closely following the post treatment instructions. The usual treatment interval is eight weeks.
Are there any side effects?
Immediately following the procedure you may experience some redness in the treated area. The redness usually dissipates within one to three days. Also, although it is not the intended purpose of this particular treatment, hair growth may be impaired in the treated area.
How long does it take?
Most treatments will take between 15-30 minutes depending on the size of the area to be treated. Prescribed topical anesthetics should be applied 30-90 minutes before the treatment time (this is greatly encouraged to increase your comfort).

Treatments that really work
Laser energy is absorbed by the pigment in the hair follicle while your hair in its anagen, or active phase of growth: The laser light is converted into heat, causing thermal damage to the follicle without harming the surrounding tissue. Hair re-growth is impeded in the damaged follicle.
Average treatment series
Only 30% or less of your hair may be in the active phase at any one time depending on the body area. Thus, a series of treatments will be required to achieve the long-term improvement you desire. These treatments are spaced approximately 4-12 weeks apart, based on hair growth cycles. Our extensive experience tells us that you can expect to need from 3-8 treatments (4-6 is average) to each treatment area for long lasting optimal results.
Typical treatment sessions
Sessions for an upper lip or small bikini area can take as little as 15 minutes, while larger areas on back and legs may require up to 60 minutes or more.
How permanent is Hair Removal?
The average patient in clinical studies sees a 48% reduction in hair growth after three treatments and up to an 80% lasting reduction after six to eight treatments (results vary). After you have completed a series of four to six treatments, any remaining hair will usually be finer and lighter in color. Most patients require one or two touch-up treatments per year. Blond, platinum, most red, gray and vellus hair will not respond to this treatment.

Laser Acne Reduction
Safe and effective treatments
The office of David C. Wenger-Keller, MD now provides the most advanced laser technology for the reduction of Acne. This advanced technology allows us to treat all ethnic groups and skin types safely and effectively.
Average treatment series
One treatment should provide improved skin appearance. A second treatment may be required in two weeks. The degree of active pimples should be reduced, however you can expect the acne to recur over the course of a year, as part of the normal activity of the acne.
Additional treatments during the course of the year may be required to again induce improvement. Scarring and pigmentation changes will not be removed by laser therapy.
Typical treatment session
Depending on the severity and extent, one session may take 15-30 minutes.
How permanent?
Most patients experience a significant improvement in their active acne, however the process, which leads to acne, remains active, so maintenance treatments over the year may be required.

Treatments that really work
Laser light is absorbed by pigment in actively growing hair, damaging the hair follicle and thus, hair re-growth is impeded, reducing and eliminating the bumps caused by ingrown hairs. The average patient sees at least a 75% short-term reduction of shaving bumps within 2 weeks after just one or two treatments. One or two annual touch up treatments may be required after completing the initial treatment series.
